Personal Learning Plan

Well, I took a risk and tried a program that I have seen my peers and instructors use throughout CEP 810, 811, and 812; PREZI.  I thought my Personal Learning Plan was the perfect opportunity to visually discuss my personal learning plan!  I really enjoyed our data visualization lab and the mind-mapping tools that I explored in the lab.  Prezi is like a mind-mapping program times a thousand.  I hope you enjoy my presentation!

  1. Kathy,

Great PLP! I really thought you did a nice job using Prezi for the first time. The layout, images, and directive path were great, and keep your project extremely interesting. I totally agree with you regarding surveying your students and finding a new Wicked Problem to work with each year. I think the wicked project was my favorite so far through the master's program. I am jealous of your downtime and ability to continue your education. I hope everything goes well as you transition into teaching again next fall. Enjoy your summer.

  2. Wow! Great job on your PLP! I really like how you laid out your Prezi. I liked how you set up the path and mixed in handwriting with the typing. You did a great job of integrating TPACK into the project. I strongly agree w/ you that we need to continue to practice and use what we've learned. With all of the professional development, grading, and everything else teachers do, we must not lose focus on the fact that we need to continue to move our classrooms forward and not move back into old fashioned techniques. Also, I strongly agree that we should do a "wicked" problem at least once a semester, reflect each time, and edit if necessary, but you make a great point about getting student input in that all we've learned and practiced is ultimately for them and if we are missing something we need to alter it. Good luck and I wish you and your baby all of the best!

  3. Kathy-
I loved your PLP, especially the part about asking for your students input on what you are doing in the classroom. I also have found that their feedback can be the most valuable for us as teachers. I also agree that working on incorporating TPACK more into my lessons is something I need to work on as well. Your PREZI was very well thought out, I have never worked with that program, and honestly am scared to try. I am not a person who can look at the big picture and mind map where I wan to go. I really think it is great that you have that capability. I also think the goal of thinking and working on more wicked projects is a great goal for us as educators. Tackling big problems step by step may be a less overwhelming way for us solve classroom problems. I need to focus on more wicked problems as well. Great job, hope to have another class with you in the future!
